Starting off with Apple iPad & iPhone

Aimed at those with little or no experience of Google or email, this will give a sound grounding in the basics of these devices – both iPad and iPhone users are equally welcome.

The course is presented using an iPad, but we will be showing how the iPhone differs as we go along.

Course Objectives

To introduce students to the practicalities of the Internet, as well as how to send and receive email messages. Our aim is to build confidence in using both the Internet and email for those students who have minimal experience with these topics. We will also cover some of the iPad / iPhone’s other basic functionality.  A workbook is provided containing topics covered and general information. This is yours to keep.

Course Structure

4 weeks, 1½ hours per session. £20 (You can do a Getting More from course for only £10 if you complete this course)

Course topics covered will include:

〉Search the Internet with Google
〉Creating contacts in the address book
〉Using the “Mail” app to send and receive emails
〉How to reply/forward and delete emails
〉Printing emails & websites
〉Sharing website links
〉Security advice when using the Internet
〉What to look out for in bogus ‘Phishing’ emails
〉How to create secure, but memorable passwords
〉Taking photographs
〉Emailing photos, and saving photos emailed to you
〉Bringing it all together, with structured practice exercises
