Using Microsoft Publisher you will learn how to create a range of publications such as posters, certificates, newsletters and cards that can be used both at work and for clubs, charities and training.

Course Objectives

The purpose of this course is to introduce you to all the commonly used features of Publisher.  By the end of the course you should be able to produce attractive, professional publications.

  • On this course you will:
    • learn about the features in Publisher that enable you to create a professional-looking publication
    • work through examples of useful types of publication

A workbook is provided containing exercises to give hands-on experience and general information. This is yours to keep.

Course Structure

Three weeks x2 hours

  • Lesson 1: Introduction and Admin
    • Beginning a new publication
    • Adding and working with text boxes.
    • Using Word Art
    • Formatting text
    • Inserting pictures, editing pictures
    • Creating a publication with pictures and words.
  • Lesson 2: Looking at the templates and taking them apart
    • Use layering to create new shapes.
    • Grouping together shapes
    • Creating a brochure
  • Lesson 3: Creating a booklet
    • Using Headers and footers.
    • Numbering pages
    • Numbering pages in a booklet.

Note: There will be homework as you need to have a go at skills learnt in order to progress!

Prerequisites

You should have attended the Word course or have a basic working knowledge of word-processing.
