Drop-ins

Need some free help or advice?
Why not call into one of our popular Drop-In Centres, held at a number of locations in the area? On hand will be a number of our volunteers, with experience in Windows, Apple and Android products, who should be able to help you find a solution to your problem. Some are held weekly, others once a month depending upon demand and usually last between 2 or 3 hours. They are run by volunteers who give up their time to share their knowledge amongst the community and offer you a chance to get one-to-one support to resolve your problem.  We are always on the look out for new locations to hold our drop-in sessions so if there isn’t one in your area please contact us and see if one can be ararnged.

Some of these centres are also used as venues for our training courses.

All venues are wheelchair accessible.

My Laptop seems to be running slowly…
I
Can’t access my iCloud account….
Where have all my photos gone?…
How do I use Google Maps?….
Should I get a new iPad?…
Is there a course I could go on?

When things go wrong or you just have a question, drop in to a Drop-In. It’s free, although we always welcome donations.

If you want to talk about the courses we run, times, dates, locations; we will also be able to assist you in finding the best course to suit your needs and skills.

Courses

As with the Drop-Ins, our courses are held in a number of different locations around the area. Locations are chosen for a number of reasons but principaly for their suitability and accessibility for both able-bodied and disabled students. Status of accessibility for wheelchair users is provided but if you are a wheel chair user and find that accessibility is not what you expect then let us know and we will see if the situation can be rectified. Using different locations means there will be somewhere you can get and we swop days and times to increase the availability of the courses. All are run by volunteers who give up their time to share their knowledge amongst the community. Details of planned and current courses can be found on the Course Timetable page or the Find the Right Course page.

Zoom – What is Zoom?

Photo by lucas law on Unsplash

We used ZOOM for a few courses during Covid when face-to-face was not possible. We continue to offer it for some Microsoft Office courses.

ZOOM is a web-based video conferencing tool for desktop, tablet or mobile devices that allows users to meet online, with the ability to see and hear – if you want to. ZOOM users can to record sessions, collaborate on projects, and share or annotate on one another’s screens, all with one easy-to-use platform. ZOOM offers quality video, audio, and a wireless screen-sharing performance across a variety of operating systems: Windows, Mac (Apple), Linux, iOS and Android.

Not familiar with ZOOM? Just tell us when you enrol on the course that you plan to attend and a tutor will help you get prepared over the phone.
